Moodle, Google, SMART Board, iPods, podcasting, FLIP, weaving a web -- these were all a part of the expanded High Tech Hall at the 2009 NJEA Convention. Educators struggle to keep up with the technology, but thanks to the largest educational gathering in the world, New Jersey educators discovered the latest and greatest technological tools to help make their lessons relevant and progressive.

Center Launches New Progressive Math Initiative
The Progressive Math Initiative (PMI) consists of courses designed by professional learning communities (PLCs) of math educators who believe that teacher collaboration can lead to higher levels of student achievement.  Courses posted on this website are developed, reviewed and refined by educators participating in PLC's within their schools, and a virtual PLC linking their schools via this site. Our first course - Algebra - is being developed by middle school math educators participating in the NJCTL math grant project.  Join us in this journey of collaboration and discovery at www.njpmi.org.


Progressive Science Initiative: Teaching Certificate Endorsement in Physics
Improving student achievement in science is now a national priority. To that end, increasing the number of skilled science teachers is also a national priority. The good news is that New Jersey is ready to take on the challenge of science education by training a talented corps of teachers who will lead the next generation to high levels of student achievement in science. The New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning is launching a new science teacher certification program designed for current certified teachers with great teaching skills and an interest in science education.

Math educators in three New Jersey middle schools are the proud recipients of a grant from the Center for Teaching and Learning middle school math initiative.
