Professional Development

New Jersey Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) offers professional courses that are designed to complement the PSI-PMI curriculum. The use of this CTL curriculum in schools, along with successful research-based teaching methods, have resulted in raising student achievement. These courses are currently offered for professional development hours through CTL or graduate credits in collaboration with Adams State University.  These courses have been taught on-site across the United States, and internationally.

Course Name Description
CTL Teaching Methods In this course, teachers will learn the CTL approaches towards curriculum, pedagogy, technology, formative assessment, summative assessment, grading, and pacing and how they are woven together to create a highly effective teaching and learning environment. PSI Algebra-Based Physics for Teachers Teachers from any discipline can learn the content and teaching methods of Algebra-Based Physics.

Professional Development Hours

CTL is an authorized provider of professional development hours in New Jersey. These professional development opportunities may be eligible for continuing education credits in other states. Participants are urged to contact their school administration regarding any continuing education requirements. Note that some districts accept professional development towards movement on their salary guide.  All participants who finish the course will receive a certification of completion.   Cost for a course is $580 per teacher, or $5,800 for on-site training for up to 15 teachers.

Graduate Credits Available

Teachers that successfully complete a 3-day CTL Teaching Methods are eligible to purchase one (1) graduate credit through Adams State University.

Likewise, teachers that successfully complete PSI Algebra-Based Physics are eligible to purchase up to nine (9) graduate credits through Adams State University.

These credits can be purchased at Adams State’s Tuition rate, which at the time of this writing is $55/credit.
